His father gave a half hearted smile back.

Jayden looked back at Chester. "You feeling a bit better?"

‘A little.’

"That's good."

‘Yeah.’

Jayden smiled.

Chester nestled close.

Jayden held him close.

Chester let him. His father gently played with his hair. ‘You can’t see her, but your mother is trying to put flowers in your hair.’

Jayden smiled, imagining Chester with flowers in his hair.

Chester chuckled weakly. ‘She’s here?’
‘Yeah, she’s watching you most of the time.’ -
"Hi, Chesters' mom." Jayden tried to pretend he knew where she was.

‘She says hi and ruffled your hair,’ Chester’s father said after a couple of seconds.
That made Chester feel a lot better.
