"well, I don't quite have a plan for the fangs yet but as for the sunlight thing, you are the reason I have a plan. You showed me how we can not burn in the sunlight. That's why we're visiting an abandoned kingdom. A few years ago a kingdom was evacuated quickly due to a trembling of the earth. We have a few of the refugees living here. My plan is to go to that city and search the rubble for lapis lazuli." Jack said
-
‘Do you think having more will make it so you won’t burn to a crisp?’ Mildred asked. ‘I didn’t read that far into the vampire fact book. I used to find lapis lazuli jewelry everywhere in markets, so we’re bound to find something.’
-
"it's not for me. I don't want to go to the city with no way to get out of they find out I'm a vampire, so I'm bringing two of my most trusted guards with us to help us escape if we have too. They are masters at escaping human confinement. I might be able to turn into a bat and fly away but you can't." Jack said
-
That was Mildred’s next question. ‘You’ve really thought of everything,’ she said as she looked up at him, marvelling at his planning. She grinned. ‘Sounds good to me.’
-
"great. Thank you so much for your help Mildred. I believe our plan will work. I also can't wait for you to show me around the human kingdom." Jack said, smiling. He scribbled a note on one of the papers on the desk then started to search though his books for possible ways to disguise his fangs.
-
‘It’s not as beautiful as your kingdom, but I’d love for you to see where I grew up.’ Mildred smiled back and sat on his desk, grabbing another book and flicking through the table of contents. ‘I can show you around my old street, find some of my belongings…’
-
"I think it'll be fun. I never get to walk around town freely." Jack said, smiling. He pulled an old purple book from the shelf that he hadn't remembered reading.
-
‘It’ll be very fun,’ Mildred agreed happily, turning to a chapter in the middle of the book and skimming through it.
-
Jack skimmed through the purple book and found a disturbing fact. If he pulled out his fangs they would grow back. He decided to keep that in mind as a last minute option just in case.
-
Mildred skimmed a couple chapters. The book was full of facts about a bunch of kingdoms and countries in their nation, maps, trade routes, etc.
She flipped to the back and found a map. ‘Are we going to pretend to be humans? Well, you pretend.’ -
Jack put down the book but bookmarked the page. He searched for more books relating to magic. He wrote down a note to ask Nosfera for a spell.
-
"I am going to be pretending to be human. It's safer that way." Jack said as he wrote
-
‘Okay,’ Mildred looked back down at her book. She flipped through a couple pages. ‘I found a few that don’t have contact. But most of these royal families of these places aren’t entirely human, apparently.’
-
"that could intimidate the townspeople. It would also be difficult for me to pretend to be anything other than a human." Jack said
-
‘True. You don’t look very… faerylike.’ Mildred flipped a couple pages. ‘There is one kingdom that’s entirely human, though. On the other side of the nation, so theres really no way for them and the other human kingdom to interact. Silvershire.’
