Ander watched her with the slightest hint of amusement, not wanting to help her unless she asked for it. She didn't seem like the kind of girl who appreciated being coddled. "Need any help there?"
"Yauth fleese," Kenna nodded, speaking through the cane in her mouth while also trying to not accidentally whack Regal with it. "I caunt lihht mashelph."
(Me putting my fingers in between my teeth to figure out how it would sound lol)
The struggles of a writer XD))
Ander snorted at her garbled speech, moving over to help her. He placed his hands on her waist, hoisting her up onto Regal's back with slight difficulty. Once he was sure she was secured, he walked over to Storm and ran his hand down her snout, touching his forehead to hers. The gray mare huffed softly, smelling like dust and sweat.
He remembered how she had paced her small stall restlessly, tossing her head wildly. The horse owner had been confused at his choice, but Ander had insisted on her. Not even moments later, the stable had been swallowed in flames. The fires had been extinguished and Storm had settled down because of it. Ander had always respected her for her heightened, almost paranoid senses. Now he just hoped they'd keep her alive.
Ander opened the stall doors, letting her out. She looked back at him with a soft whinny, nudging her head against his hands. He gently pushed her away and eventually she trotted off into the night. He turned back to Kenna, pulling himself onto the white stallion behind her. "Ready?"
(I'm assuming the packs turned into saddlebags)
"Yeah," Kenna said, wiping her cane on her shirt where her mouth had been. She set it across her lap. She wasn't sure where to put her hands to hold on. She guessed she'd figure it out when they were off.
Nah still packs))
Ander noticed her hesitation, frowning to himself in thought. "Do you want to sit on the back? You're more at risk to weapons, but then you'll have something a little simpler to hold onto."
(I don't think Ander's arms would be quite that long to go around both Kenna and her pack to steer the horse)
"We've already wasted enough time," Kenna said. "I'll be fine." She gripped the edge of the saddle, firm in her decision.
ShadowFigure3000 NoviceBut then the horse buckled!
(I'm not sure if that's a real response or not)
Scuse me who are you))
Yep, he'd have to have noodles for arms to do that))
But then that means Kenna will have to steer it oh God))
Ander raised an eyebrow. "So I presume that you'll be steering as well? Because there's no way I can reach from back here."
(Why did Ander get on behind her then)
Kenna then realized that, yes, he'd have a problem getting them away. "Okay," she said
I don't know my brain is gone))
Also you said you'd give me brain juices))
Ander let out a tired sigh, putting his hand to his forehead momentarily. He was being such an idiot. He would never have made such a stupid mistake if he weren't so distracted. And he wouldn't be distracted if he didn't have another person to look after! This whole thing was far out of his comfort zone. He was used to someone of experience, IF he kept a partner around to begin with. He helped make the rearrangements, settling in front. There, that felt right. "Hold on tight."
(Remember I gave them to you in return for you answering the rps the one time)
Kenna wasn't sure how tight she needed to hold on. So she just wrapped her arms around him in a hopefully tight enough tightness.
Ahh I need more though))
Ander nudged Regal's sides with his heels and the horse took off without a warning, his hooves thundering against the forest floor. He was a beast of pure muscle and speed, even with the two riders on his back. It was a rushing, exhilarating feeling. It almost tasted like freedom.
Kenna yelped at the sudden speed and held onto Ander tighter. They were going so fast. It felt like they were going faster than a car on the freeway. After a bit she got used to the speed, and watched the dark shadows of the night rush past them.
