"why'd he havta die, and why'd I have ta take the blame?" Norman sobbed.

Annie was in a state of immense confusion. "Who...Nori?"

"of course it's nori." Norman said in between sobs

"Can you tell me what really happened?" Adria asked.

After Norman calmed down a bit he said "ok."

Adria nodded encouragingly.

"well my parents came home drunk one night and my brother wasn't at home when they got there, he went to go get a cake for my dad's birthday." Norman said as more tear streamed down his face.

Adria mopped his face up with a tissue. "And?" she prompted.

"they were mad when he returned so they locked him in the basement for five months." Norman said.

Adria covered her mouth. "Oh my God."

"they got away with it too, through bribes and blaming me." Norman said.

"That's horrible," Adria said.

Norman just nodded.

Adria leaned against him, her cheek squishing up against his shoulder. "What do you think is going to happen?"

"my life will get worse." Norman said pessimistically.
