Here's a couple of things I need you to clarify: Did the pregnant women keep their children after learning about the defects? Do they live in the wild. Are scientists constantly trying to hunt them down, or do they just live normaly(until now)? Do the characters know each other before the present? And anything else important.

Okay, here goes:
Diana's mother never accepted her. Even before her secret was exposed, she never had any respect for her. The only thing that kept her mother from getting an abortion while she was pregnant was her father.
One day Diana felt something go through her, at a small age too. At age seven, while Diana was raging about her mother, she changed into a panther.
Most times she had enough willpower to keep her power under control in front of other people. But one day, at age 12, she changed into a panther, right in front of her mother.
She was horrified at Diana. She called her a horrible daughter, spat every foul name she could at the kid. Diana was outraged, and disapeared into the forrest nearby her home, lived there for three years.
(It's long, I know, but I had to get the backstory in) -
Nikki's parents were rich, helpful,and kind.At age five,here back was starting to grow outwards.here mother was in tears,her father calling doctors to help, sadly,they couldn't do anything.Nikki's mother got used to the spine growing out of her daughter's back,but she never got used to the scaly skin on the spine.Nine years later,she is sneaking to the forest.Nikki disabled the alarm system and went through the gates.she smelled fresh air,I'm free,she thought as she ran through the forest.

Diana ran through the forrest, trying to find something to eat. She wasn't i a hurry, but the runing was just more natural than walking. Three years of practice, letting her legs stretch out, getting more from solitude in the forrest than when she lived with... her.
She got used to this life. Running wild, free, with nothing to stop her from doing whatever she wanted. It was boring, and sometimes lonely, but it was still a good living. -
man,Nikki thought,she forgot her fishing rod,meh,I'll use my hands.She went by the stream,and waited.In a few minutes,she had a large mouth bass in here hands.she ate it whole.then,she burped.

Diana was in the mood for fish. Squirrels sound too chewey, and berries sound too sweet. She started to head twards the stream where she almost always got her fish.
