So, something I've researched.
People like to cite AI plants taking the water from earth, however, that's not really a strong argument. They fail to mention that in comparison to everything else that uses the earth's water supply, that it equals to less than one percent. The fact that they cite water usage as an issue is a bit misinformed because people will assume it's a significant amount of water when we use more than that daily. So looking from a logical argument standpoint, it doesnt hold up. With that said, there are several other reasons to say ai isnt helpful, such as the way it is train off of everyone's content and intellectual property without consent. Sounds like a massive lawsuit, honestly. -
Saying that AI is using our water isnt wrong, but the way they leave out the actual statistics of how much water you use is actually more like throwing that line out there for shock value. It's like when I went to the cardiologist and he said I was at risk of a heart attack because I had high cholesterol, but when I showed my doctor the statistics report he gave me (that I didnt know how to read myself), she found that my cholesterol was only 1% higher than the normal amount.
Half truths can be both misinformation (for people who don't know the whole story) and disinformation (for people who do know that the effects aren't as big as they seem on water but still want to use shock value to shake people emotionally, get them to panic, and ditch AI.) It's more professional to come with whole facts rather than make large statements with minimum facts. -
