Rick Riordan’s books are always so awesome, I haven’t read all of them and I doubt I will but they’re lovely and awesome and augh
My favourite series so far has been Apollo’s -
“After all, a witch is still a lady, unless circumstances dictate otherwise.”
- my favourite childhood movie Bedknobs And Broomsticks which I’ve now learnt is very unhinged -
Professor Emelius Browne is one of my all time favourite characters forever

Read some of Most Ardently and I’m so happy I got this book because the cover reminded me of Jester because it’s so perfect
Darcy could literally be Chester and whilst Oliver isn’t very much Jayden he’s still a lovely character and a relatable trans character
I love books with older language that I can still understand. A lot of classics and remixes of classics are hard for me to read because of how tedious the language is but this book is perfect in its language
Basically Oliver is a trans boy trying to navigate London during the Regency Era, a period of time where it was actually pretty common for people to be openly queer and trans (since birth certificates didn’t exist before 1837), but quickly changed in the Victorian Era, when everything went backwards and queer people were once again very marginalised. Oliver meets Darcy, someone who hates the pressure of finding a wife and settling down, they immediately hate each other, then fall in LoVe
Right now they’re in the hating stage and I kid you not it is so similar to how Jayden and Chester met. Jayden (in Oliver’s position) immediately thought this guy was sexy af and got mad at himself for thinking so and Chester (in Darcy’s position) regarded him with a disgusted look because of his warped perception of him
This is literally how Darcy was introduced:
“He found Bingley’s friend - Darcy, was it? - standing exactly where Bingly had left him when he went to ask Jane to dance. … so there he stiffly stood, alone, his back to the green wall like it was his only protection
It was a sentiment Oliver could relate to
The boy’s hair was longer than Bingley’s and framed his face in loose waves that curled out like a crown. It looked very soft. What would it feel like to run his fingers through it?
A young, pretty woman with blond curls spilling over her shoulders approached Darcy. Oliver couldn’t hear what was said from this distance, but he had a guess based on the way Darcy shook his head and waved his hand, and the woman frowned and walked away, looking slightly insulted.”
Then the excerpt a couple pages later:
“But there was still a problem, namely that it was Darcy who Jane was trying to set him up with - the one boy Oliver had decided he absolutely wouldn’t interact with any further.
… “He… glowered at me,’ Oliver said carefully. “I just didn’t sense that he wants to be here, and he didn’t seem particularly happy to catch my gaze-“
Jane didn’t look impressed. “You think he doesn’t like you because he looked at you?” “
Maybe I just really like 1800s gay and trans men and associating things with my OCs but I love this book so far. Gabe Cole Novoa the amazing transmasculine author you are. Keep in mind I haven’t read Pride And Prejudice but it’s such an amazing remix of it so far eeeee. I was hyperfixated on Jester for so long so I think this is feeding into my storytelling thirst pretty well
This New York Bestseller is literally gay fanfiction of one of the most popular literary classics it’s perfect I could rant about its awesome trans representation too but I need to continue reading it -
They’re so gay I love them I can’t
“ “Socialising. Meeting new people. It’s an art I’ve accepted I’ll likely never master. Oftentimes I don’t have to, as Bingley is skilled enough for the both of us, but when I’m left to interact with someone I don’t know, alone… well. They either bore me and I lack the ability and desire to pretend otherwise, or I inevitably make a fool of myself. I apologise.”
Oliver’s smile grew. Bored Darcy might be an arse, but flustered Darcy was adorable.”
THIS BOOK OH MY GOD THIS BEAUTIFUL BOOK -
I’m a sucker for fluffy oldtimeyish media
Bedknobs and Broomsticks isn’t all that old but the actors talk funny and it has oldtimey whimsy so it counts
And Most Ardently is just if Pride and Prejudice had gay characters so it also counts. I’m giggling and kicking my feet and I can’t read too much because I have to savour it
I swear I’ve tried reading unedited Dickens books but I can’t it’s so jibberjabbery. The closest I've gotten is a simplified Oliver Twist novel and it was awesome. Old English is so hard to understand like. I’d love reading the classics if people edited and designed them a little better and weren’t talking nonsense every fourth paragraph and there wasn’t some racial slur in the first 15 pages but noooo. and apparently we also have to have these paragraphs in the tiniest squeeziest format which makes it even harder -
One of my favourite bee species is the Augochlora pura, or the Pure-green Sweat Bee, part of the family Halictidae
Unlike a lot of other bee species (of which there are over 20,000), these bees don’t operate with wueen bees. All females are able to give birth and some often create their own nests, which can be home to 2-6 generations. Mothers have been seen attacking their children if they don’t “belong” to the nest. Males don’t live in the nests, and instead just roam around. Some often sleep together in groups of 6. Males live for about 14-15 days. It’s unknown how long the females live for, but they often die after completing 9-12 nests. It takes around 17-40 days for all of these bees to become adults.
Mating occurs not in the air but on flowers, where males will come up to a female and attempt to mate with her. He will often die after mating with her. Multiple males can also pile on top of him to try and also mate with the girl. Male bees of these species have also been seen flying up to insects of similar shape or just black dots to try and mate with a girl which is so funny to me.
Females lay eggs in cells, which they make by using their saliva and nectar to shape wood. They nest in wood planks, trees, etc, just wood.
All A. pura are bright green in colour, but sometimes males are bluer or have yellow and black stripes on their abdomen, and sometimes females appear golden. They look metallic and are about 8mm in length. Females are often bigger than males and they differ a lot in shape. They collect nectar and pollen to eat, feed their young, and use to make nests. They often reuse old cells instead of just making new ones.
Their name, “Pure-green Sweat Bees” (“Sweat Bees” is also used to refer to other species from the same family), refers to their attraction to human sweat. They drink it as a source of protein or vitamins, so if a bright green insect lands on you it’s just to drink your sweat don’t worry.
They’re widespread around eastern America and Canada. They mate in autumn, when all males die. It takes about a week for females to lay eggs after being fertilised, then 17-40 days for the egg to turn into an adult bee. The females will lay eggs into cells that are full with food and pollen for the larvae to feed on during its growth, which is what they use the nectar they collect for.
It’s amazing to me that bees pollinate and help our crops unintentionally. It’s the pollen that falls from their fuzzy legs that pollinates other flowers and helps nature prosper. Mother Nature is so smart for that -
I got to go to a bee show today and see bees up close it was so amazing 10/10

Good reads keeps recommending Most Ardently to me, but I haven’t bothered to actually look at the reviews or anything lol

It’s so awesome so far. If you’re ever really obsessed with Jesterverse like I’ve been for ages (mainly Chester and Jayden) I’d recommend it so much. Or if you just need some trans and gay media that’s set in the oLd tImEs because it’s so good at doing that
