  In WWII, in Ocracoke North Carolina, the supply ships leaving the place got bombed by the Germans. 
  A few Englishmen died (I think it was around four?), and so America offered to forever lease out the land "given in perpetuity" to Britain so that they could be buried on British soil (the bodies wouldn't have survived the trip back home what with decomposition). 
  
  So yep, there's a bit of North Carolina that belongs to Britain
