C1 is an A student. They constantly surround themselves with only the best in their class, and they prefer to spend their time at home studying instead of going out with their friends. One day, the teacher calls C1 after class. There, s/he introduces C1 to C2 and asks them to help them with their grades. S/he claims that C1 is the top of the class and that they think C1 will be able to help them. C1 takes the job after being told they will get extra credit for the deed. C2 is a troublemaker. Despite C1's best efforts, they don't seem very interested in learning at all. One day C1 bursts into tears at one of C2's comments, and starts harassing them about their behavior. C2, for the first time, gets sad as well. It's then that C1 finds out that C2's parents had called for a divorce. They had to chose which parent to go to, and neither of them supported C2's studies. They both constantly said that C2 was useless and stupid. C1 vows to help them through it all. Eventually, though this bond, they become closer. C2 eventually asks C1 to "get out of the house" with them. C1 happy complies, and the two go out in their first date. However, the next day, C2 doesn't show up to school. C1, worried, investigates this problem. They find out through their teacher that C2's parent beat them because they didn't show up at home on time (a result from the date with C1) and were in the hospital in a life or death situation.

Honestly it's not that sad but you can always chose that the parent beat them to their death and that C1 never gets to tell them that they love them or some s--- idk
