me: would like a new haircut for my birthday, my hair is getting too long for my comfort
me: mom, i was thinking for my birthday i could get a haircut
mom: what type of haircut?
me: a pixie cut, if that's ok
mom: why?
me: it looks really pretty and i feel like it'd be easier for me to take care of, plus you get the bonus of it being easier to brush and style and you wouldn't get it caught in anything
(note that i gave her REASONS!!! very good reasons why i wanted this haircut. and she still had to disagree)
mom: oh. well, i don't think so
me: why? i like that style a lot
mom: it's too short
me: what do you mean?
mom: it's too short, i don't want my little girl to look like a little boy
(NOTE AGAIN: SHORT HAIRCUTS ARE NOT FOR BOYS. HAIRCUTS DO NOT HAVE GENDERS. THE LAST TIME I WAS BULLIED WAS IN 4TH GRADE.)
me: whaaat?? but it would be nice if you just let me get that haircut for my birthday
me: it'd be a cool birthday present
mom: no, you're about to go into high school! it just isn't a good way to start off 9th grade
(NOTE AGAIN AGAIN: MY MOM IS STUPID. I'M IN 8TH GRADE AND BY THEN MY HAIR WOULD HAVE ALREADY GROWN OUT TO A "GIRLY" HAIRSTYLE..... WTF)

reasons why this is BULLs---
a) haircuts are HAIRCUTS. they do not have genders and nobody would be picking on me for it, because my school has a very very strict bullying policy and i do feel safe when there's teachers around??? AND SHORT HAIRCUTS AREN'T FOR BOYS. LET ME REPEAT, SHORT HAIRCUTS ARE NOT FOR BOYS
b) HAIRCUTS DO NOT PUT LITERAL HOLES INTO YOUR SKIN AND WILL GROW BACK!!!!! IT TAKES EVEN LONGER FOR THE HOLE TO CLOSE UP IF YOU TAKE OUT A PIERCING
c) my mom is STUPID??? she does understand that i'm her DAUGHTER and that she must LOVE her DAUGHTER and if her DAUGHTER wants to be HAPPY, then she'd find it in her heart TO LET ME GET A HAIRCUT
ALSO.... SHE IS WILLING TO LET MY SISTER BE HAPPY WHEN SHE WANTS A PIERCING..... BUT A HAIRCUT IS SO BAD..... OH MY GOD MY HAIR IS SHORT OMG I'M A SPAWN OF SATAN?????? BUT PIERCINGS AREN'T BAD?????? i swear to god

You should be able to do whatever you want to do with your hair.
It's not like you are going to use the cut-off hair to shove it up someone nostrils to make a teddy bear with it.
