Thread Topic: Concerning the remaking of the Registry:

I may create a Tumblr blog that will keep track of the Official RP accounts on Gotoquiz. This would allow me to organize the accounts according to the source and follow a consistent format, keeping it neat and easy to navigate.
Furthermore, new accounts would be added to the registry by submitting the link to the blog and allowing myself and/or a few other moderators I might add to check for pre-existing accounts for the character first, minimizing confusion.
This is what I'm considering at the moment. Questions, comments and/or suggestions are welcome. Thank you in advance. -
So what you're saying is, you're thinking about making a Tumblr blog to keep the registry organized? And if we want to add a new account into the registry, we'll have to send in an ask with the link to the account? I don't understand, though. I can't send links in asks, Tumblr doesn't let me. Or am I misunderstanding? Can you explain in more depth exactly how to register your account?
-
No, links don't work in asks. They would need to be submitted.
-
How? Still a little confused, sorry. :c
-
I suggest that we open the submission box to anyone. The format for submission would be:
Picture:
Account name:
Origin:
Username of creators/those who have the password:
Then we would tag posts according to fandom and user(s). -
Oh, do you mean that you're going to have a little toggle bar and list of pages added to the blog like "home" and "ask", and then something like "submit"? Okay, I know what you're talking about now, I think I've seen the submit format on another blog.
-
I was thinking it would be cool to have pictures of each of the characters.
As for the creator of the accounts, I myself don't want people to know which accounts I'm behind. I think it ruins the immersion of roleplaying. Although, when I think about it, it'd be pretty cool to be able to search a user's name and see a list of all the characters they roleplay.
Yes, that's pretty much right, Pumpkin. -
What about those who don't use Tumblr? It would be far easier to just make a new thread, or have both.
-
However, with the tumblr, it would be best to say who owns each account.. You could put it in a hashtag, y'know? So if people want to look for only my stuff, they would search #Dark22978, for you it would be #TheColdestSun, ect.
-
You don't have to have a Tumblr account to do any of this, and this is a more organized and secure method of doing it. This way, we can see all the characters from any given source that are already taken, and no one can add a character to the registry that's already taken (which has happened a lot and has made the current registry confusing and inaccurate). Also, there would be no conversational clutter.
-
Is it still going to be the account that was created first is the one that's registered or is it first come, first serve?
-
The accounts that are already registered and were submitted following the correct guidelines will be added without question, although if we're going to include names, I'll have to ask people to give me that information, which may take time.
-
I was just thinking that if someone uses an account offensively, we'll know who it is.
-
That's fair. Seems like a good idea.
-
I'm going to leave this open in case anyone else has anything to say, but for now, I'm making the blog.
