a nice user NewbieHere. Lets see if it comes out right:
Jupiter
By Leah
General Facts
Jupiter is part of the Milky Way, the galaxy Earth is in. Jupiter is a gas giant, meaning it is one of the 4 planets in our solar system made up mostly of hydrogen, helium, methane, and ammonia, just like Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, which are also the outer planets. Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun, and is part of the Jovian System, which consists of Jupiter and its 63 moons. It is the biggest planet in our solar system, bigger than all of the other planets combined. One year on Jupiter is equal to 12 Earth years, and one day is equal to 10 hours.
Discovery
No one knows when or who discovered Jupiter, but the earliest record was found in ancient Babylonian texts from 7th or 8th century BC. Babylonian astronomers called it Marduk. Galileo Galilei discovered the four largest moons of Jupiter in 1610 using a telescope. Robert Hooke may have discovered the Great Red Spot in 1664. The Pioneer spacecrafts retrieved the first close up images of Jupiters atmosphere and several of its moons. There have been many spacecrafts sent to Jupiter, and more are on the way.
Rotation and Revolution
Jupiter rotates faster than any other planet. One day on Jupiter is only 10 hours, where as on Earth it is 24 hours. One year on Jupiter is really 11.86 Earth years. The axial tilt on Jupiter is small. It is only 3.13*. Because of this, Jupiter doesnt have major seasonal changes like Earth does.
Size & Mass
Jupiter is the biggest planet in our solar system. 1,321 Earths could fit in Jupiter, and Jupiter is larger than all of the other planets combined. Jupiters mass is 318 times that of Earths. Jupiters mass is one-thousandth that of the Suns.
Structure
Jupiter is said to have a small metal core that is bigger than Earth. Between the core and surface of Jupiter there is an ocean of hydrogen in liquid metal form. The surface is completely gas. Jupiter is made mostly of hydrogen, helium, methane, and ammonia, like all the gas giants. Basically, Jupiter is mostly a bunch of liquid and gas.
Moons
Jupiter has 63 moons, many of which are small and faint. The four largest moons, also know as Galilean moons, are Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. Ganymede is the biggest moon in our solar system. Here is a list of all of Jupiters moons:

Rings
Jupiter has rings, just like Saturn and Neptune. Jupiter was first believed to have 3 rings, but actually has 4. The visible rings are Gossamer, Halo, and the inner ring. The new ring is not visible from Earth and is closer to Jupiter. It also rotates in the opposite direction of the other rings. The new ring was discovered by the Galilei probe.
Viewing
Jupiter is one of the 5 planets that can be seen by the naked eye. In fact, Jupiter is the second-brightest planet. It is also the fourth brightest object in the sky. Jupiter is best viewed from dusk to early morning.
Great Red Spot
Jupiters Great Red Spot is a storm that has been going on for 350 years without stopping. It is said that the storm eats other storms to continue to rage. The Great Red Spot is highly recognizable. It can be seen with an advanced telescope, and when seen in a picture, can be easily pointed out.
Summary
Overall, Jupiter is an amazing planet. It continues to astound us with things almost unimaginable. From appearance to numbers, humans cannot prevent curiosity from provoking them to learn more when they learn just a little about this planet. So, if your interest is piqued, go to:

a nice user NewbieDon't worry. I plan to add picures. ;)

a nice user NewbieI'll post my grade tomorrow. I'm only gonna get 2 and a half hours of sleep. Oh well.
-
That was actually well put and fun to read :) Well done I hope you get great marks
I did not know Jupiter was visible with the naked and now I shall totally try and find it :D only thing is, there are, like 4 bright stars don't know which one are planets and which ones are satelites :(
Also if I am not mistaken, Europa is said to be a little smaller than Earth but has the same components as Earth so there could be life there well that would be fun, right? -
You don't have to turn this in online, do you?
-
This looks boring. *falls asleep*
-
.....Wow.
-
That's so easy what are you in 4th grade?
