He stuggled a bit, then laughed. "A stick with aluminum foil?"
-
She didn't laugh along. Her face stayed dead serious. "It's a stake, Erik. It's been noted as pine with silver, and having a faint smell of garlic. Your cousin was either really into fantasy stuff, or she was a vampire slayer."
-
"Not one for jokes, much, eh? Silver? I don't think she was ever a fan of supernatural beings." He said raising an eyebrow.
-
"Has anyone else in your family had anything similar to this? Has it happened before? Do you remember any mention of vampire slayers during your childhood?" She crossed something off one of the sticky notes, and wrote something else down.
-
"Not that I've known of. Happened before? I'm not sure. I haven't had contact with my family for abotu two years now. I try to forget my childhood since my parents were always very strict and wanted me to be a lawyer or congress man." He said.
-
She nodded. "Anything else that might be useful for me to know?"
-
He thought for a second. "Mmmm... There's one thing."
-
"And that would be...?" She looked up, meeting his eyes.
-
"I have a dinner reservation for two tonight, but I can't find anyone else to take with me." He said looking dead serious at her. "Know anyone who wouldn't mind free food?"
-
She rolled her eyes. "You're kidding me."
-
"Am not. I was going to take my cousin to dinner before she left, but that didn't work out." He said with a frown.
-
"Alright, sure. Should I meet you at your hotel?" she asked.
-
He quickly scribbled down an address on one of her sticky notes. "Meet me here at 7:30 tonight. I'll be waiting." He said with a grin and walked out.
-
"Oh... okay. Bye..." She watched him walk out, a little concerned about what she'd just gotten herself into.
-
He walked out, feeling totally awesome, and having a few concerns. One, wondering if he could go back to his apartment to get clothes. Two, how he felt like puking again. And three, how he was during the questioning and wodering why his family hadn't taken care of this. And finally, why he was put in the middle of this.
