It looked sort of like a well built man without a head. It looked like it had some black aura surrounding it and it was warm in the area where I walked past it.

So you were close to it? How could you tell it apart from a shadow if the house was dark?

I have lovely night vision and there's nothing in the house that would cast a shadow in that shape.

I actually ended up walking close to it. It didn't appear to have a face or anything. It looked like a 3d shadow.

There's plently of things around the house I can use as weapons. And I don't know if this will help, but I also have 2 crosses in my room I don't know what to with. Maybe if I throw them at the thing it will go away. I'm hungry. Maybe I should try and eat it.
