Someone was talking to my parents, they were told I have to be really careful at school
-
The ladys lips pursed into a tight line as she stared down at a nervous Jake.
"You can trust me..." she whispered. Jake shrugged. -
The person left my parents and went into my room, I was told that I had to be really careful now, he was trying to tell me in a way that might not upset me as much, but I knew I didn't have long to live, I started crying
-
Jake ran a hand through his own hair, worry and exasperation plastered across his face. He turned away, holding back sorrow and anger. "Its nothing..." Then he entered Williams room without looking back.
-
I noticed someone else enter the room, but I was crying too hard to really see him
-
Jake knelt by Williams bedside and gently pat his shoulder over and over.."Shhh...Its okay. You'll be alright...."
-
I felt someone pat my shoulder, I looked over, and realized it was jake
-
"Straighten up, little soldier. Everything is gonna be okay..."
-
"J-jake? W-what would you do if I died" I quietly asked, I was hoping he didn't like me as a best friend yet
-
Jake pushed himself into silence. He didn't really have any friends...sooo...."I-" He cut himself off. "Know what I learned over the years? You fear death, you die. You don't fear death, you don't die...So don't fear dying, and be a soldier, battling within yourself..." Jake didn't even notice when the social worker entered the room. "Be a soldier. Soldiers are strong. Soldiers are tough. You're
tough, man, whether you know it or not. -
I noticed someone else come, I didn't say anything, but I was hoping I would be able to get a heart transplant, but there was a low chance that would happen
-
The social worker put a hand on Jakes shoulder, and glanced at William. "Are you two friends?" Jake was silent.
-
After a minute, I finally said something, "not really, well, a little" I quietly said
-
Jake nodded. "He's right." The social worker sighed, and gently took Jakes arm. "Come with me..." she whispered gently. Jake barely moved, but soon found himself standing. The lady started walking him out.
-
I watched as they left, I was still really upset, I wasn't crying anymore though
