Hell of a lot better. Where I am anyway. I went from being stuck in rooms with barbarians with only enough brain cells to torture me with, to only having to see civilized people.

Alright then. ^-^ For one, mine is much bigger than the middle school. I guess I thought that would make traffic easier, but then you remember there are a lot more people, and people tend to stop in the middle of the hall and converge in huge groups to talk about crap that doesn't matter.
The cafeteria food, I think, is a lot better. A lot more choice there, though the lines are murder. ._. Have to be fast getting there.
Quite a bit more freedom, especially if you're a respectful student who doesn't get in a lot of trouble. My teachers let me listen to music when we're just quietly working at our desks, though, again, that may be different where you are.
There's a lot more freedom as to what you can say, though limits are still in place, of course. Where talking about assassinating the president probably would have gotten me a referral in middle school, no matter the context, when my history teacher asks what we have the right to do if the government takes away our rights and I yell "ASSASSINATE THE PRESIDENT", he says I'm right and proceeds to discuss all the ways it could be done.
My teachers work to reason with the students and work things out based on everything that's happening with them. Again, might not happen where you are. Don't get your hopes up..
I got put in a class filled with Seniors last semester, which was really cool because they were really mature and still fun to be around, and since it was an elective, save for two moronic girls who didn't turn in their course application forms until way too late and just got stuck in there, everyone was actually interested in learning what was being taught. If you're looking for a more mature peer group, pray there's a creative writing class.
Hm... Finals and end of course exams are a pain, but whatever. We get half-days on those days, so...
There are some bad points, but all in all, I much prefer high school to that lousy excuse for a middle school. -

The people? Most actually don't change from how they were. Look for people who will accept you, and just say fuck you to everyone else.
I was all alone throughout the entire first semester. I literally had not a single friend there, and I spent all of my time sitting alone, hating my life, and hating everyone around me. But then I met Mutti~ It wasn't on purpose, I just found her encouraging her friend, whom I now refer to as "Uncle", to climb the support beam to the school. And we made friends, and she accepted me and loved me. And her friends did, too. And having them made it possible for me to open up a bit and make more friends. I still stick to my usual tactic now, even now that Mutti's gone.. Be infinitely loyal to your friends, the people who love you and accept you, and who won't turn on you, and just fuck all the rest. They won't matter.
I'm sorry, I rambled. All that aside, we'd like to think people mature suddenly when they get to highschool. That's not the case. Some get better, some stay the same, and some get worse. Just forget about everyone who doesn't deserve your time, and focus on finding people who do.
