Hell yeah she did-

We could do this scene where Delphi has been stressing out about everything and finally breaks and tells her fathers, and Chester takes them into his room and shows them this family photo album, which shows photos of Chester and his parents and their parents in his childhood, then Maeve is included, then photos of just Chester and Maeve and then Jayden appears, then Lavender, then photos of just Chester and Jayden as Maeve and Lavender have moved out by now (by the time Delphi is 10, Chester and Jayden would be about 33-35)
There would be little shots of the photo coming to life and us being able to see into them as Chester describes some of the photos to them, and then he says something like “my sister, your aunt, hated being royal too, y’know. you don’t have to rule one day if you don’t want to. I can tell your tutors to get off your back, if you want”
Jayden and Chester adopted their two kids when they were babies, Delphi first, then the other one a few years later. Chester doesn’t want to tell anyone for fear of being a bad king/dad, but sometimes he feels bad for adopting Delphi since they hate the royal life he gave them, especially when there were a bunch of other options in terms of adopting babies. They chose Delphi because their parents abandoned them, since they were too poor to feed them, and died a while after, so Chester and Jayden wanted to give them a better life. Chester wants the best for his kids and he feels horrible for making Delphi live a life of royalty when they could have been much more happy in the orphanage
We could make it so Delphi’s tutor is a huge a--hole and hurting them, then when Jayden and Chester find out they fire the tutor immediately and Delphi begins to enjoy their life more. Or maybe Delphi is special needs as well and the tutor doesn’t believe in that so their teaching style doesn’t fit Delphi’s needs at all, so when they start finding something schoolwise that works much better for Delphi, they can stop stressing about academics and stop feeling like a failure. It can also be a thing where Delphi feels horrible for feeling this way and for getting low marks, since Jayden and Chester were kind enough to adopt them and take them out of poverty, and they’re failing her fathers by getting low grades regardless if they study constantly or not. It’s revealed the tutor is purposely giving them low marks so they’ll try harder and “grow out of their mental illness” -
Or Delphi is dyslexic and no teaching style is helping them so their tutor is lashing out and making them feel not enough and a failure, and their tutor’s punishments are harsh and old fashioned. Delphi feels horrible for being a burden to her fathers and not being the princex they should be, so they don’t tell them, and they only find out when looking through the tutor’s files
Then after the tutor leaves theres nobody telling Delphi that they’re a failure, and while they still have the trauma, they feel better about themselves and don’t stress as much because they don’t have to study for so long now, since now they have a new tutor that specialises with dyslexic/special needs kids and they’re finally realising that they weren’t the problem for not absorbing as much information as everyone wanted them to, it was just the teacher
That’s a long paragraph, lmk if you don’t like any of the things in there lol -
Writing these stuff about Gloria Thorn so I don’t forget
- childhood toy was a monkey
- had a one night stand with a murderer based off Jack The Ripper, whom he never saw again and had no emotional attraction to
- extremely precise about his appearance, perfectionist and spends about half an hour every morning doing his makeup. Is very upset when he has a bad hair day
- everyone thinks he’s a rich duke man and the entire circus did a double take when they found out he grew up poor
- unpredictable hair. Sometimes it’s in ringlets and sometimes it’s straight (which he hates), but it’s mostly curly
- mad hatter/willy wonka coded -
i agree with all the Delphi stuff except them getting adopted as a baby, i think it should be like age 3 oreven 4 so they vagueley remember living in povertey, so it makes their transition into royalty even more jarring, but other than that we had the same thought process
-
Oooh true, that would make Jayden and Chester feel even worse for her and more inclined to help her. Huzzah I’m glad you like it :D
-
them*
I just don’t want them to hate their life as royalty forever, since they deserve a happy ending as much as Jayden and Chester and we’ve sort of already done that arc with Maeve -
^^exactly
-
They hate it for different reasons though. Maeve hates the idea of being a replacement heir and all of the publicity attached to it but Delphi hates all of the responsibility and the crushing weight of being the next leader
-
Unless you view maeves conflict with royalty differently, after all she is your own character
-
Oh yeah fair enough, I viewed it as the pressure to do good for Maeve too just because her brother was the perfect gifted kid and she wasn’t like that so she felt like she needed to live up to him, especially because she was failing school, but I totally get what you’re saying
-
I think I understand what you're saying. So for Maeve it's the competition to be better or as good as her incredibly gifted brother but for Delphi it's just because they're going to be the next ruler soon? Am I right in saying that?
-
Probably yes I’d say. I think Maeve would also be very desensitised to how big ruling is since she’s a princess so she’s scared she’ll fail like she fails everything
For Delphi it could just be because it’s so new and different, but I don’t think Chester and Jayden would be like “you have to rule because we say so”, it was always a “maybe you’ll rule if you want” because they both know how much pressure it was when they were young. The pressure of ruling would be put on her by the tutor saying “you’re literally a peasant but now you’re a princex ig you’re GOING to be the next ruler and you’re literally so dumb rulers jeed to know this”
That’s how I see it anyway, lmk if I’m wrong -
Poor Maeve she's so real for that though
-
I think jaden and Chester have a lot of trust and faith in Delphi and know that they're going to be a great ruler so they don't try to put a lot of pressure and stress on them whereas Delphi's teacher definitely puts all of the pressure on ruling the entire kingdom and blah blah blah
