Beautiful Lies Part 7

WINNERS FROM THIRD GAME: no one, lol. Another chance is in the results with a much easier question, hopefully. The answer was either Liam or Niall. :P

For the previous winners please go to Part 6, it's in the first and second paragraph. And I'll try making these faster for my non-resident American people out there :')

  1. "What's happening?" Ash demanded. Gritzo held up a bottle of thick pink liquid and rolled it in his hand calmly. "The poison is trying to fight off her power. Her brain waves are much stronger than an average person, so it takes the poison longer to take affect." Gumbo hopped on the counter and snarled his teeth in front of Gritzo's face. "I fancy that girl. Not in a way that you're probably thinking, but in a friend sort of way. Now you better do something before I consume all of your precious fungi." Gritzo sniffed Gumbo's breath as if it were a normal thing. "Brush your teeth, dog. If you're going to threaten me you might as well do it with class." Gumbo took a slight step back. "Now, I'm going to remove the poison from this lovely woman on the floor, curled up in the corner of my living room; with her boyfriend's permission, of course." He turned to Ash, waiting for a reply. Ash shifted uncomfortably and shook his head. "I'm not her boyfriend." "What a shame," Gritzo said with a sneer.
  2. I watched April as she flopped around like a fish out of water. "What's in it for you?" I asked. Gritzo lifted up several more of the pink liquid vials. "I guess you'll find out sooner or later." He pointed at a bright green door to his right. "The rest of you guys might want to go in there. If you want me to do this right then there should be no distractions at all." I took a step forward and then stopped. "How long will it take?" Gritzo put a hand to his chin and stroked it. "Maybe 45 minutes. I just give her the liquid and then her body does the rest. So really, it's up to her whether she lives or not." The goblin opened the door and then insisted us to go in because the longer the wait, the more abundance of the poison gets spread. The door shut and I could hear a click from a lock.
  3. Nick was sitting down in a white chair next to his cousin, Nadine. He sat dead still. Well, maybe that wasn't the appropriate phrase to use at this particular moment. His dad was at the front, making a speech as if he knew what he was even preaching about. Which he didn't. His mom sat across from him in tears with his Uncle Dan trying to comfort her. Within a glance, you might have thought that a big flock of crows was loitering, just pecking at the grass for worms. But most would probably have guessed better. Nick's dad sat back down in his seat. It was his turn to say a few words before they buried Xavier and his coffin in the cold ground below. He was going to talk about his addiction and how he was getting better and the horrible death he suffered from committing suicide. But it was all going to be lies. Because that's not what happened. Xavier didn't die from anything drug or alcohol related, no. It was something more extreme than that. Somebody killed him. And Nick knew exactly when, how, and what happened. And so does Xavier's doctor.
  4. The guard with the southern accent, Thomas, shooed the others away and led Christofer to a fancy baby blue door with a brass knob. Thomas turned the knob and pushed the door open to reveal a group of quite fashionable pupils. When they saw Christofer they all gasped at the same time. "Am I that bad?" He asked with a little blush. Thomas let Christofer go and stood quietly by the doorway. A slim, model looking, African-American woman stood up from a chair and made Christofer do a 360 turn. Then her team started touching his hair and clothes. "You need a bath, fresh dye, a clean shave, and new clothes," the lady said to her team more than Christofer. Her team automatically scrambled about, grabbing clothes, getting out their hair cutting supplies, and preparing a bath. "Uh, I can take a shower by myself," Christofer said. The woman, Nina, eyed him like she was offended. "No. You take a bath."
  5. Christofer walked out feeling like a Calvin Klein model. Actually, that would be an understatement. Nina forbade him to look into a mirror unless she said so, so that when he did see himself, she could see his reaction. Nina's beauty team cleaned up Christofer completely from his hair, nails, toes, and clothing. He felt like a Ken doll. Nina clapped her hands two times and a man scurried over, dragging a full body mirror in front of Christofer. "Now," Nina began, "you may see." The man turned the mirror around and Christofer looked himself over. Although he hated anybody who worked for Oath, he had to admit they did an amazing job. His hair was cleanly washed and he was in some of the nicest clothes he's ever seen. He even got a new pair of Vans—which was a great bonus. Nina looked at him, waiting for a response. "I look fantastic," Christofer said. "Thank you. Really, I kind of needed this." Nina smiled "It's what I do, child." She turned to the guard by the door. "Thomas, I'm done for the day. You may take him to wherever you plan on taking him." Thomas took a step forward when Nina snapped, "But this boy just got his nails done, and if I see any of my fine work of art slightly tampered with, I will shave your eyebrows and pluck each and every armpit hair of yours that you men are so very proud of. Do you understand me?" Thomas gulped and put his hand to his armpit. "Y-yes, ma'am." Nina nodded and then exited out the door, followed by her team.
  6. I sat down on the small bed in the room. I bit my fingernail, wondering what was happening outside the door. "Why do you lot suppose he had to lock us in? Honestly, this is a nuisance," Gumbo complained. Alex was sitting down against the wall making shapes with his fingers while Ash paced back and forth, twirling his sword in his hand. "I don't trust the goblin," Ash said apprehensively. "Well it's either we let him heal her, or she dies a slow and painful death. I don't know about you, but the second option seems a tad bit harsh," Alex replied, making a square. I heard April scream from the other side of the door and cringed. "Stay!" I heard Gritzo command. I heard shuffling from the outside and then a door unlocking. The stout goblin looked annoyed. "I need one of you to come and hold her down. She can barely control what she's doing now; keeps swinging away at me thinking that I'm a spider." He pointed at Ash. "You there, son. Put that sword away. Maybe she'll remember her boyfriend when she sees him. Come along with me now." Ash tucked his sword back into a cube and then walked out of the door in strides. "I'm not her boyfriend," he mumbled under his breath.
  7. After he was out, Gritzo locked the door again. "And then there were three," Alex said with a slight smile. I laughed nervously and then shut up. Gumbo hopped onto my lap and sneezed. "Wow, thanks." I wiped off my arm and frowned. "My apologies. I was—" Gumbo was interrupted when Ash opened the door with a very worried expression on his face. "What's wrong?" I asked. "We need Gumbo," Ash answered. "Gritzo needs you to melt some stuff with your acid...spit, flem stuff." Gumbo got down and scurried out. Ash slammed the door shut from being in a hurry and locked it again. "The original two," Alex commented, getting up from the floor and sitting beside me on the bed. "You've been awfully quiet on the journey," I said. Alex rubbed his thumbs together. "There's just nothing to say." "Or maybe you don't want to say it." I fell back on the bed, staring at the ceiling. "I'm tired." Alex went on his back too, our shoulders touching. "Mentally or physically?" I sighed heavily. "Both." He laced his fingers through mine. "Then get some rest." We played thumbsies again. "I can't do that, Alex. Not when April is out there fighting for her life." Alex turned sideways to look at me. "You fought for your life more than once. You deserve to get some sleep. Where you can dream more about Christofer."
  8. I knew it was a joke, but there was definitely bitterness in his voice. "I think I'll go without it. I'd probably get a nightmare anyways." I closed my eyes and listened to Alex's slow breathing with my own. I kind of wished that I could live in this moment and stay here in a never ending loop. "We should ask if we could sleep here. I'd rather here than outside where all of us are vulnerable." I heard Ash's muffled voice. His voice was trembling. "If all goes well with April then I guess we could ask Gritzo," Alex said, glancing at the door. "We shouldn't trust him. Goblins always want something in return. Can you read his mind?" Alex got up from the bed and shuffled to the door. I sat up, disappointed that he left. He pressed his ear to the door and closed his eyes. After a minute or so, Alex came back to the bed and sat on the edge. "He wants a new roommate."
  9. Sam was at the Promenade Mall getting some frozen yogurt. He bought himself a new shirt and a belt. Sagging wasn't really his thing. He waited impatiently in the line for the toppings. The lady in front of him was spooning in almost all of the mochi. "Hi, Sam!" He turned around, almost frightened. "Ivan," Sam greeted half heartily. "What's up?" Ivan fixed his glasses which were crooked on the bridge of his nose. "Just getting some yogurt. Did you hear about Nick's brother? He died yesterday." Sam tried looking sympathetic and surprised. "No, I haven't heard. That's too bad. I think I'll drop by and see if he's alright." Ivan nodded and looked down at his yogurt. He dug into his pocket and pulled out a slip of paper. "A random guy told me to give this to you. I don't know what it is, but he said it was important." Ivan handed the paper to Sam and payed for his yogurt. "I guess I'll go now. Nice seeing you, Sam." Sam watched Ivan leave before paying. He shoved his paper in his pocket and walked back to his car, which was way back in the parking lot. He put his bags in the passenger seat and got in behind the steering wheel. He sat there chewing on a walnut. He felt the paper in his pocket. He hoped it wasn't what he thought it was. Sam put his yogurt aside and pulled the paper out. It was just a regular, college ruled piece of paper with a few words written on it. Disturbing words in black sharpie. "WAS IT WORTH IT? - X".
  10. Ash was trying to hold April down as best as he could. She was literally thrashing around, screaming out the most randomest things. She was throwing air punches like a pro, and one actually nailed Ash right in the jaw. "Christofer owes me so much for this," he muttered, rubbing his jaw. Gritzo got out a shot with a blue liquid in it. "What's that?" Gumbo inquired. "It will knock her out. If she moves too much like this then the poison will feed off of the illusions she's creating and become stronger." He dig the needle into April's arm and she let out a high scream. She fluttered her eyes and slowly dozed off. Gritzo stepped back a little and clapped. "There!" Gumbo furrowed his brow. "What do you mean by 'there'?" Ash looked over April's arm. "She's healed." Gritzo snorted a laugh. "Just temporarily. Let's bring your other friends in here so we can discuss my end of the bargain, shall we?"
