Sugarflower's paws sloshed around in the slightly damp grass. Her kits frolicked around her legs. She watched them gleefully, glad she had kits. Her mate, Tumblefrost, was watching by the fresh kill pile. Sugarflower noticed the amount of fresh kill was meager, barely enough to feed the warriors, elders, and queens. Perhaps not enough. But it didn't matter. She'd already gotten her piece, what was left of an emaciated mouse. Sugarflower took a deep breath and sighed. Soon her clan would go hungry, perhaps even starve.
