Fifteen years passed from the wedding of Jayden Celeste and Chester Jackson.
They were truly happy. After three years of marriage, they decided to adopt, taking custody of toddler Delphi, later Delphi Jackson-Celeste.
Chester had horrid baby fever, so two years after, they adopted another. An orphan, a boy they called Felipe.
Five years after that, they had another. This time, a surrogate child, whom they named Anastasia.
Delphi 13, Felipe 10, and Anastasia 5.
Their main residence was Chester’s castle in the original North kingdom, but occasionally they would take trips to the East to visit Jayden’s family. These ventures were quite few and far between, however.
The castle has grown much more of a home, now not a place of mourning, but a place of new beginnings. More paintings now decorated the halls, now not just ancestors, but rather paintings of the family through the years, arranged in chronological order in the hall outside the husbands’ bedroom.
Felipe took after Chester, in fields of academic (and lack of social) excellence. Anastasia, primarily after Jayden, in terms of recklessness and mischief. Delphi was a wonderful mix of the two, but so unlike them at the same time.
‘Look at the children we’ve created, darling,’ Chester would whisper, while he fed the infant Anastasia a bottle by the fireplace. ‘She’s already teething.’
Now, he laid in bed, reading a newspaper, wearing loose undergarments - white shorts that fell to his knees. He’d grown his raven hair out, now down to shoulder length, and had a small beard growing. -
Jayden was happy. He had an amazing husband, and three wonderful kids. He couldn't have asked for a better family.
He was anxious though, and couldn't help but wondering if he was a good father. He knew he was a bit more reckless and spontaneous than Chester, but surely he was still a good role model, right?
He was thinking about this as he was laying next to Chester, still not ready to get up for the day. His hair had gotten thinner, and a bit more dirty blond than before. He had some stubble on his chin and upper lip that he hadn't bothered to shave yet. -
As he read, Chester’s hand fell into the golden locks of the man beside him, tangling within them.
Over the years, he’d grown more comfortable in his femininity, and had stopped feeling so anxious about loving a man. His worries, however, shifted to being the most perfect father he could be. Some of his raven hairs had turned a light shade of gray from a combination of age and stress.
After finishing his article, he folded the paper and set it aside, then settled back into bed with Jayden and pressed a kiss to the stubble on his upper lip.
‘You’re beautiful, daffodil,’ he murmured, perhaps for the millionth time that week. -
Jayden leaned into his touch, grinning. He ran his hands though a strand of gray. "I love you."
He was proud of the man and father Chester had become. More than ten years into marriage and he was still shocked he had such a caring man in his life.
Jayden himself had matured as well; his dangerous stunts and pranks had slowed to a stop, and his mental health had improved drastically now that he was away from Caden and his parents. He was relaxed now, not nearly as jumpy and reckless as his younger self was. -
Chester’s head tilted into his hand, a small smile on his lips. He pressed a kiss to the tip of Jayden’s nose. ‘I love you too,’ he murmured.
Despite the present lack of dangerous stunts, Jayden had somehow loosened Chester up. He was still anxious, and rather a “stick in the mud” - especially with his children - but significantly less than he’d been 15 years ago.
His arm slid around his husband, but before he could pull him close, the door burst open. The 3 year old Anastasia was holding onto the doorknob, hovering a few inches above the ground. Felipe was behind her, using one of his crutches.
‘Daddies! The sun is up!’ Anastasia declared, tottering towards the bed. ‘Play!
Chester sighed, but a smile was on his face as he rolled over, pulling Jayden on top of him. ‘It’s too early, darling.’
Felipe limped into the room behind his sister. ‘I need your help calibrating one of my planes. Please?’
A few years ago, Chester had a brief obsession with planes, before returning to flowers. He’d accidentally passed that interest onto Felipe. -
Anastasia leaped onto Jayden's side of the bed, giggling and begging him to play with her.
Jayden flopped down on his pillow. "Five more minutes." He whined, putting his sheets over his head.
Anastasia was shaking Jayden's shoulder. "But I want to play now!"
"Felipe can play with you." Jayden grumbled. Felipe was looking at Chester, shaking his head furiously. Anastasia pouted, persisting to try and shake Jayden awake. -
Chester sighed at Felipe’s reaction, but a small smile of amusement tugged at his lips. He rolled over, holding Jayden on top of him.
‘Can I go play with them, darling?’ he asked in a small voice, as if Jayden were his parental figure and he wasn’t the parental figure of three children. He didn’t like to make his kids sad. ‘I can cuddle you, ehm, later?’
Anastasia made a puking sound, jumping on top of the two. ‘Eweh! Pleeeease, daddy? I need a dragon in my game and Felix can’t run around!’
Felipe glared. ‘Felipe.’
‘Same thing!’
‘I can run if I want to!’
‘Then why do you have a stick!’
‘It’s a cane!’ -
Jayden laughed. "You can go play." He wasn't quite sure why he was the authority in the room. He was about as authoritative as a grasshopper.
He wrestled Anastasia off of him. "Anastasia, be nice."
Anastasia huffed, jumping off of the bed. "I'm the nicest." She mumbled, glaring at Felipe. -
Chester sighed in relief and gently rolled over to put Jayden on the bed. He kissed his husband’s nose and slid onto the floor.
‘Eweh! Put a shirt on!’ Anastasia yelled, covering her eyes with her hands.
Felipe grinned. ‘I tried to make it more aerodynamic, but-‘
‘What’s aerodynamic?’ Anastasia asked, eyes still covered.
‘I’ll take a look at it. Can I can dressed?’ Chester asked with a small smile. Felipe nodded and Anastasia followed him. She bumped into a wall.
‘Darling-‘
‘I’m okay!!’
