‘But you do,’ Maeve frowned, watching her. ‘You deserve the whole world, Lav.’

“Huh?” Lavender realized she was thinking out loud. “Oh, I didn’t mean it, sorry.” She tried to shrug it off, shuffling closer to her.

Maeve let her shuffle closer, playing with her hair. ‘You deserve everything good and more,’ she murmured.

“Maeve, I said I didn’t mean it.” Lavender said a bit firmer. She did mean it, but she didn’t want to have to talk about emotions. She hated wasting Maeve’s time.

‘I know. I’m just saying,’ Maeve said, pecking her nose.

“Well you don’t have to.” Lavender huffed quietly. She could take care of herself. She had for years.
