Jayd looked up at him with a smile.

Chester tucked a curl behind Jayden’s ear. It made him sad Jayden couldn’t be completely honest with him, but then again, it wasn’t like Chester was either.

Jayden looked up at Chester. "You ok?" He asked quietly.

Chester forced a smile. ‘Yep. All good over here,’ he said. ‘You?’

Jayden wasn't sure he believed Chester. He kissed his cheek. "You're not allowed to lie to me, love."

Chester chuckled weakly. ‘Neither are you, sweetheart,’ he murmured.

Jayden gave a small smile. "No using my rules against me."

‘But you should follow your rules too,’ insisted Chester.

"You need to start following them too, then."

Chester thought about that for a moment. ‘Fine, then.’

Jayd raised an eyebrow, waiting for him to say something more.

Chester blinked. He looked away. ‘You go first.’

Jayd shrugged. "Alright. I guess I just... Really, really don't like talking about my brother."

‘Why not?’

"He's..." Jayd looked for the right words. "He was a fine royal, but not exactly the best person, if that makes any sense." He looked down at his hands, which were gripping the blanket hard.
