"Well, this is the middle of nowhere. Also, I added a lot of defense mechanisms. That's probably why they didn't come straight away; they must have been corrupting my systems," Crypta decided. "I knew I should have updated them sooner."
'No one ever thinks they have to,' Harper thought. 'But then they swoop in and get you.' But all he said was, "Now that they know about this place they're going to keep it under constant surveillance. They always keep everywhere under constant surveillance. Do you have another place we could go?"
"We're going there right now," Crypta said. "But it's only a matter of time before they find us. You wouldn't happen to have a tracker on you, would you?"
Harper sighed. This was the most he had ever talked to one person in...well he couldn't remember how long. "I'd rather wait until we're at this place you told me about."
"Alright," Crypta said. She pressed a button and the horse folded up into a convenient metal backpack. "Here, take it. If you ever need to use him, just shout "Pad" or press this button."
"If there are people like that-" Crypta stuck her thumb over her shoulder to gesture towards the crashing noises nearby. "-Coming after you, you might want this."
