As it got faster, an object approaching the speed of light would get larger, and as it got faster, it would be too big to reach any faster. So if scientists were able to separate space from time, that would be easier. But how to get it that fast is a mystery

in my opinion there is no time.
time is the speed at which our minds operate.
space is made of matter, energy, exotci particles, various other and unlimited components.
but what isn't real is time. if everything were infinite-which i can not see how it would not be- then so would be the detail, and given infinity of everything so would it include motion.
infinity in motion is zero space.
zero space is non-motion.
if nothing moves and has infinite span of existence then time is irrelevant.(which dissipates Einsteins theory of time travel, which you mentioned) hence the only way time travel would be possible or even truly desirable is at the intellectual level. hence thought. or memory. -

THER! that's an excellent parallel to time. allow a brief demonstration to the fact that time is unreal.
cold is not physical as hot is physical. heat is energy.
cold is lack of energy. therefore cold is a concept. not a physical entity.
