The three main groups of Christianity are Catholicism, Protestants and Eastern Orthodox. Protestants are Christians that basically don't belong to the other two churches (that's a very general explaination of them). Protestants make up all the tons of denominations such as Methodist, Baptist, Lutheran, Quakers, ect. ect.

Basically they believe the church doesn't make you a Christian, but belief in the Bible and Jesus Christ does. I consider myself protestant. :3

I love going encyclopedia mode. :D

I would say that Mormon is under the Protestant umbrella, but that's pretty much Protestant is- an umbrella term for any Christian denomination that is neither Orthodox or Catholic. But Mormons are Christians. That's been a hot topic around here, LDSgirl.
