It could be done peacefully if everyone had a gun. It's like mutually assured destruction between the United States and the Soviet Union. Neither would dare attack each other, because if they did, they'd get their heads blown the f--- off. Anarchy would basically have to work the same way.

I would say I'm conservative, but being a gay conservative is like putting a gun to your head. Pretty much the whole party hates you. :I
Then I try Libertarian, though we'll never win the election, at least not in this political climate.
Then I usually find myself searching for a better country to move to. >.> -

I think even the Republican Party will come around to the gay rights issue eventually, mostly because it gives them a bad image with over half the country and limits their appeal. If they start losing elections again and the tide turns back to the left- and it probably will- they're gonna have to do something to get more people to vote for them. Even as they have successfully been able to the economy a salient issue, there are still Republicans who are saying things about gays and women's reproductive rights that limit the party's appeal, and may still cost Mitt Romney the election (even though he is leading in Florida and Ohio right now). So really, a "gay Republican" is not neccessarily impossible to be anymore.
