Music Ranting
Thread Topic: Music Ranting

i’m just going to leave this to rant about random music things
-
actually this is a cool way to watch listening evolve, a year ago i would not be listening to the music i listen to now
right now im huge on steve lacy (im wearing out his discography though😭💔 i wish he had more), mac demarco, childish gambino, tyler the creator (mainly in igor, flower boy, wolf, & his cherry bomb instrumentals), frank ocean (ALL discography), MF doom (it’s doomsdayy), daniel caesar, rex orange county, celeste, paramore, kid cudi, probably more i’m not thinking of right now but i need to go through my playlist -
my playlist is an actual monster dude i’ve had it for a year and it has 1500 songs and it’s 86 hours long
-
i named it torturing my fbi agent because nobody’s listening to all that bro
-
i don’t like malcolm todd’s music very much for some reason, i like his vocals but im not a big fan of his music even tho he’s really similar to steve lacy and he’s stated steve lacy was his biggest inspo
-
i have always hated AJR so much though their music is really cheesy sounding to me and i get so mad when i hear their music
-
to be fair i’ve only heard like 3-4 of their songs though and then i decided i was done, they might have better songs but i will decide that in the future if i ever listen to them again🙏
-
i do not like taylor swift at all or sabrina carpenter, their music is very generic sounding and taylor swift i just hate in general
-
i really admire steve lacy’s vocals and music though, and tyler’s instrumentals, i’ve studied some tyler’s instrumentals and he distorts a lot of synths especially in igor which i thought was really cool and ive tried to incorporate in some of my music but its been a struggle
-
i love how unique sounding mac demarco and steve and tyler are, they have very unique independent tones in their music that can’t really be recreated and i think it’s amazing how they lean into something slightly unconventional and turn it into a new style
-
i need to study them more man i haven’t been studying or breaking down their arrangements really at all, the one time i studied tyler’s arrangement i remember i made like one of the best instrumentals i’d made and i was so proud of it but i never did anything with it and i think i should go back and turn it into a full arrangement
-
i just really struggle with arrangements for some reason man it’s like wizard craft to me
-
wait i forgot also i love old kanye west’s music in homecoming and ye but he’s a horrible person
-
oh i’m a dumb---😭🙏 i meant graduation
homecoming’s my fav song off there tho -
i really love ghost town and violent crimes but ghost town can’t be topped at all, it’s amazing how the synths it sounds so lush and i love how even though it’s a loop everything sounds extremely fresh
