i wasn’t dissing on malcolm todd though i really respect him as an artist he has amazing music and i love how he has a distinctive voice himself but most of his music isn’t for me for some reason

i really like music artists with their own tone that manages to make their discography sound coherent i admire them they’re the coolest people ever

i’m kind of really bad at keeping a consistent tone in my music, i always use synths but i don’t have a specific genre i stick to

i’m trying to do r&b since it’s my favorite genre but i feel like i always just end up sounding like pop

and i’ve been using garageband for 4 years but i FINALLY am getting a setup grade and im so stoked!!!!! i got the computer set up

i’m just waiting now on a USB wifi adapter i ordered so i can connect then i can buy FL studio, i have a midi keyboard the upgrade will be crazy from using my fingers on an ipad lol😭

i wish i knew how to switch genres easily though, i know base music theory but not really enough to easily translate to different moods/tones even if i have an idea for the general tone i want to use

i think i should start studying what really makes a great r&b track, study pop music, indie music, bossa nova and just see what makes them distinct from each other

i should probably choose artists though so i have an idea
steve lacy and frank are r&b, tyler & mf are hip hop, -
laufey has some bossa nova but she’s mainly jazz which i forgot i’ve also been meaning to study more but jazz is really complicated and takes a ton of music theory which im not even halfway there yet
