  Without war for our freedom, chances are we wouldnt even have our freedom. The only way it seemed that we even got our freedom was through war- the American Revolution. Without it, we wouldnt have our freedom. Without World War Two, we would be under Spanish and German rule- some of us would even be killed because of our religion, ancestory, even the way we look. But because we were on the winning side of WWII, we got to keep our freedom, and we can live our lives the way we want to. We are lucky to have soldiers who volunteer their very lives just so that the rest of us back home can live in freedom. In conclusion, without the many wars that have happened in the history of our country (and even the ones before we became a country), we would not have the same freedom we have today.
  
  
  War has affected how I live today in many different ways. The war on terrorism is one of the best, and most recent examples on how war has affected my life. Before the terrorist attack on the United States, it was possible to drive right in front of the Whitehouse, you didnt have to go through a ton of security to get on an airplane, and there are restrictions on what you can take on a plane. For me, this is the only way I can remember my world being- I have lived like this since I was only two or three years old. But for people older than me, they remember when it was easier to get on a plane, and being able to drive right in front of the presidents home. In conclusion, war has already had a huge effect on my life, in many different ways.
  
  
  Despite the number of soldiers that may die, the ideas that they fought for live on. In WWII, despite the massive casualties we saw as we fought against the Axis Powers, those soldiers didnt die in vain. We won the war- and those soldiers live forever in the hearts of their relatives and ancestors. In the Civil War, both Union soldiers and Confederate soldiers fought and lost their lives for what they believed was right. The Union soldiers did not die in vain- they won the war- but even the confederate soldiers ideas lived on for a long while after the war. There was still racism, and segregation between white and blacks; for a long time after the Confederates lost the war, whites still believed they were better than the African Americans. In conclusion, even though many soldiers die, they never die in vain.
  
  
  I am but a boot, just the right boot of a soldier. I have seen to much- I have stepped over the bodies of other soldiers, who were wearing boots that looked just like me; I have seen battle after battle and, as each battle was over, I found that as the soldier who wore me as their boot was killed, and I was moved to another foot. Ive seen man and woman, child and grandparent, killed just because they look suspicious. These soldiers cant tell who is enemy and who is friend, and now we watch as civilians cower as they see us approach, afraid that we will assume they are foe. I just hope this war will end soon- every time the Vietnamese soldiers start shooting, Im afraid theyll aim at the feet instead of the head or chest.

  In war, no one really wins. Every side, every country loses lives, every country loses money, every country is put to the test. In the Korean war, there is still no solution to the original conflict. Neither country is making peace with the other (North or South), and every country that tried to help either part of Korea lost many soldiers- hundreds of thousands dead, many injured, still some missing. In war, every country suffers a loss that it can never fully recover from- or soon forget. In conclusion, no one ever really wins in war. There is only the side that fairs better than the other.
