"You're going to see Dr. Jenkins, right?" He grinned. "His office is right here, actually." Walker gestured towards the door just behind him. "Good luck."
-
"Oh, thank you." She returned the smile.
She knocked on the door. Upon hearing,"Come in", she stepped inside his office. -
(hehe, I found a skink in my house)
-
(Should I play Dr. Jenkins in this?)
Walker nodded and smiled before walking down the hall the way he had come. He soon reached his office, a small box of a room, and sat down at his desk. He looked over his notes from an interview the day before and set to work writing a new story. -
(I truly have no Idea how to play a boss or anyone of authority...so yeah.)
"Hello, I'm Rhine. The new intern." -
(Alright.)
Dr. Jenkins looked up from the portfolio he'd received moments before, taking off his reading glasses and setting them neatly down to the side.
"Ah, yes, yes. The new intern..." He glanced disapprovingly at his watch. "You're a bit tardy." -
"I'm very sorry about that Dr. Jenkins. I ran into that boy exiting your office and I had no idea where I was going. I think I passed this place like 10 times."
-
The man nodded, displaying his understanding. "So you ran into Mr. Douglas? A promising young addition to this business, that one." He reached over to the coffee mug on his desk and took a long sip. "Now, let's talk about your internship."
-
( Oh crap I thought I typed it in already)
"Okay, sure. What would you like me to do?" -
He furrowed his brow and rested his chin in his hand for a moment, thinking. "When I originally brought you here, I wanted an intern of my own... But now, thinking about it more, I don't really have the need." He said this dismissively, though he wasn't quite done yet.
-
Rhine looked down at her feet. This wasn't at all what she'd expected. Now that he didn't need her for himself, who would she be stuck with? Or she wouldn't be saddled with anyone, only to be dismissed. So much for college credit.
"Oh,"she said sadly. -
He raised his eyebrows at her sad tone. "But no, I'm not about to toss you away. I wouldn't be so rude as to think of that! I've put some thought into it, and I think I have the perfect person for whom you can intern for. Follow me." The elder man pushed his large leather chair back and stood up, walking out from behind it. He was quite short, actually. He was an inch or two shorter than Rhine. Dr. Jenkins beckoned for her to follow as he exited the office.
-
She followed Dr. Jenkins out of the room, shutting the door behind her.
-
He kept his pace slow enough as to not lose Rhine in the hustle and bustle of the building. Soon, they reached a small office. Dr. Jenkins rapped on the door three times, waiting for the current resident to open it.
Walker glanced up from his laptop and ceased to type, hearing a series of knocks on his door. I didn't think he'd read through all of those this fast, he thought, getting up to open it. He reached for the handle and swung it open, surprised to find Dr. Jenkins accompanied by the intern he'd run into earlier. Rhine... Rhine was her name. -
Rhine was surprised to see the boy from earlier. "I guess I'm interning for him." she thought.
