Mitchell sat on the hospital bed, biting his lip as he dialed Jason's number. It was a slow process, trying to see through his watering eyes, and this was his third attempt to get his number right. He pressed send and waited, listening to the empty dial tone. It was bone chilling, getting worse each time it repeated itself.
Dear Lord, please pick up.
Another part of him willed it to go to voice mail. -
