Back when I was new to GoToQuiz, I remember the time where there were few trolls and most users got along with each other. Old and new. I remember when a massive amount of new users swarmed onto this site and frankly, some old users - including myself - weren't very fond of having so many new people around. Kids that didn't know any better. It was frustrating. But now, we have a bigger problem on our hands. A problem that has been going on for quite some time and it feels like no matter what we do, it will never stop. Users fighting users, trolls that solely come to disturb the peace - even if their actions are minor, and users that are having their privacy violated by these trolls and their fellow users. We are struggling with an issue that is dividing us instead of bringing us together.
So I propose we - the entirety of GTQ - work together to maintain peace and order. A group of users - old, new, mod, and non-mod. An Inquisition similar to the one in a game I've binge played the past few weeks. I know I don't speak much, I rarely leave my own thread, but I believe this could be the time for all of that to change. Not only for myself, but for others who tend to stay in one place at a time. I know things won't be as simple as they were in the past, there are far more users now than there has ever been, but I consider a lot of those I have spoken with to be my friends. And I cannot stand to see my friends argue amongst each other. I will not allow the site that people claim as a sanctuary to become tainted by toxicity and trolls.
I'm going to roll with unpopular opinion and say that the mods, at least some of them, have been trying to keep order and help people to the best of their ability. Yes, there have been blatant misuses of power, but that is where we come in. This group's purpose is to bring peace between all users. A part of that is working WITH the mods to ensure everyone's issues are heard and resolved to the best of their ability, but also to keep anyone from using that power to go overboard. The Inquisition will consist of users of all ages, statuses, and experience. So long as you agree to work with others as a team towards its intended purpose.
But with this Inquisition, we need leaders to guide us on this path to peace. Two or three users who have proven that they can remain neutral and wish to find peace among us all. Although, there is always one true leader, the Inquisitor. This person, mod or not, will be available for all to come to and will have a key role in making final decisions. Yet they can't do it alone, which is where the other leaders come in, like advisers to share their opinions on how to resolve issues and help make these decisions.
In the end, I hope only for everyone to find peace and all users to be considered equals. For mods to be on even ground with regular users, but to also keep to their own duties. For regular users to see and understand why certain rules are in place and enforced. As for our leaders, I want to hear all of your thoughts on who those people should be. Do not choose your friends alone, consider those who you believe will truly get the job done fairly. Whether or not you like or respect someone doesn't determine if they will make a great leader or not.
I made such a suggestion as a joke at first, but after taking time to think about this and plan it out, I think we could make it work. There is strength in unity, and united we can maintain peace and order. To my fellow users, if you agree with any of this, I encourage you to join me. It's not just about being nice. It's about listening to each other, and not causing needless arguments with each other. It's about letting the mods do their job, but also pointing out any flaws they have, but without giving an attitude. It's about bringing the site together.
