My very very close friend is having suicidal thoughts and I'm trying to help him, but nothing is working. What do I do?

Ask him what's causing him pain. If he won't tell you, ask him if you can do anything about it. Keep his mind off of the thoughts. Talk to him about his hobbies or interests. If you think he needs someone to talk to, give him the number for a suicide line or ask him to list people he's willing to talk to about the issues.
