Thread Topic: Innocent people's account are being deleted
-
Observation NewbieThe spammer is using hacked accounts to spam. The accounts belong to users who have done nothing wrong.
-
And do you have proof for this? Or is this just some regular lie?
-
We can't help that. We have no way of recovering those accounts.
-
Observation NewbieJane austen fan was a normal user, you don't remember them?
-
All that we can do is record the accounts being used. If the accounts were indeed hacked, I can give that list to our admin and he can possibly recover them. In the meantime, we have to delete the accounts that have been taken over.
-
Observation NewbieBut if its not their fault? These users will come back and lost all their progress
-
No. Show us a link of that user.
-
They should make stronger passwords, then.
-
These users couldn't come back anyway. Their accounts have been hacked. We can't fix that, and that's the end of it. We can't leave spam sitting around.
-
Observation NewbieYou aren't GTQguy so don't try and speak for him
Trying to find their posts but they are all gone now -
Face it, the majority of the hacked accounts either posted their passwords or made the password their username. That's not GoToQuiz's fault.
-
Also note that I said "possibly", meaning that we'll work to get them back but it's not guaranteed.
-
Which ones?
-
We're the next best thing, because you're certainly not going to get a response from him, unless you want to wait a couple months on the off-chance that yours is one of the lucky few threads he'll pay attention to in one of his brief visits.
-
Also, Phan, whether or not some of these accounts were legitimate users at some point isn't really the question anymore. A lot of them were, and we have to acknowledge that. While I personally never say anything from Janeaustenfan on the forums before the spam, a search of their names shows comments on quizzes which seem innocent enough.
