Jcmauch NewbieI know I'm a newb, but I started up a thread in the "Soaps" page, Called Desolation. I'd rather it not go and die for no reason whatsoever, because it took me about 30 minutes to think of all the racist untrue stereotypes I made for the ethnicities of slavs. IT's a Steampunk, and I'm really confused on why no one has joined. Is it because I'm allowing furries?
-
At a glance, it looks really boring. That's probably why no one is answering.
-
Jcmauch NewbieBoring?
How is it boring? -
Jcmauch NewbieA multi-Person Roleplay in Steampunk Prague is Boring?
-
I agree, it doesn't seek interesting.

Jcmauch NewbieDo you people not know anything about Prague or Steampunk?
-
What was the actual plot to it? All I got was that it's the industrial revolution. Also that everyone was apparently expected to conform to stereotypes regarding their nationality?
-
Jcmauch NewbieBecause that's the vibe I'm getting if one doesn't think that a steampunk roleplay in Prague is "interesting". I mean, you have petty theft, Industrial moguls, Automatons...
-
So there's no plot, then. You're giving players a setting and telling them to just live in it. Life is boring, though, and the only way I can see you making it interesting without a set goal or enemy is to throw in useless dramatics like romance and petty shows of your character's strength and attitude using weak and stupid mini-opponents for them to outdo. Even then, it's so predictable it's boring anyway.

Jcmauch Newbiethe ethnicity was a basic guideline because If you speak Czech, you can understand most of those langauges, but they sound different. Slovak sounded simple compared to Czech at one point.
The stereotype thing is not a hardliner. each character would be different, it's just they would have quirks in their personality conforming to their ethnicity. It's technically racism, but it's not from my point of view. It's from a Made up Czech person's point of view in the 1800s. -
It has potential. I'd be willing to do something steampunk with you (you also mentioned furries? that sounds cool), but you need more of a plot.
-
Jcmauch NewbiePredictable? Who said who was the good guy in this? who defines a human? I have known a roleplay, with no set plot, that started in 2011, or earlier, and is still running continuously today on a forum with a similar set of people who started it (people were replaced due to dropping out of the forums and such)
-
Jcmauch Newbiethe way I see it, how does a man make a plot if he has no characters? I would need characters in order to make a plot, would I not? otherwise I would be basing my rp off an empty shell of goo.
-
You asked why no one responded. I'm telling you it seems boring because it has no plot. You can continue going on about how it's not actually boring, but that won't change the minds of the people who aren't going to respond.
Now, see. Pine said they might do it with you if you can develop the plot better. Why don't you work with them instead of trying to prove me wrong?
