I bet you would've still gone to jail, though. All he really was doing was talking to you. You would have been the one to take it too far as to engage in physical violence. Even if you "felt threatened", from the judge's view, it would probably be seen as assault with a deadlh weapon.

As in, if he physically beat you senseless to know where you lived, of course.

I think the judge would see that I'm a small girl that stabbed a 30 year old man who was being creepy and trying to find out where I lived, and wouldn't say it was assault with a deadly weapon.

It's a hint of rape. The guy is checking you out, he asks where you live, you refuse, and then bam! He threatens to kill you if not saying anything. It happens.
Is this making all sense to you now, or do you want me to simplify it? Because I have never shopped in Wal-Mart, so I would know. Okay? -
He seemed smart enough to realize that there are cameras and that I was with a friend and that there are other people in the store. And that fact that he was carrying stuff, so his hands were full.
Also, he did ask where I lived, and I did refuse to tell him, and he walked away. -
