Specifically, a "user above you" thread is really a thread with the words "user above you" (or something close to that) in the thread title. Most find them annoying. I'm sorta neutral with them.
I don't know if you can. You can try the "link a quiz" thing on your profile page, but I'm not sure if that will do anything. It'll temporarily boost you to the next level and give you an ability to upload a profile picture for a short amount of time, though. -
