Thread Topic: I'm so sick of being disrespected.

My boyfriend and I went to a well known cafe for dinner tonight. We were sat in a booth across from a family with two little girls. I was kinda sleepy so I curled up beside Benedict, my boyfriend, in the booth. I had my eyes closed and I heard one of the little girls go, "Excuse me, are you okay sir?" She must have thought I was crying or something because when I lifted my head up and opened my eyes, she was looking at me with wide eyes. I smiled at her and was about to say I was okay when the mother leaned over their table and smacked the girl in the arm and said, "Don't talk to them, they are gays, they will burn in hell." The father did nothing about it and the girl was really confused and upset. I was so upset Benedict and I left but before I left I went over and hugged the little girl. The mother started screaming and cursing at me and I just left with Benedict.
It's so awful how parents are teaching kids to act these days. -

I am not gay, and I never even been near a gay person, but I get what you mean. My mom overreacts over almost every tiny dramatic situation.

Zane, just because someone doesn't have a photo doesn't make them a newb. I agree with Reeve. While I hate homophobia I'd be completely appalled if a stranger hugged my child without permission.

I must say, I do respect you for that. You went against the mother and hugged the girl, even though the mother disliked you. You're also even more respectful for going out in public with your boyfriend, as I'm too afraid to even tell my mother I'm bisexual, because I'm afraid she won't accept me.
