I watch Steven Universe.

I'll be honest, I don't really care for that show. I am just not a fan of it.

I literally only watch for Garnet.
I'm curious to know if "Ruby and Sapphire" was the plan from the beginning of the show. It doesn't seem like it. .3. -

Not sure, as Garnet is larger than the rest of the gems, which fusions apparently tend to be. -
Jasper was large alone though.
I think it was something they came up with along the way because of Garnet's eyes. -

probably, but what's kind of weird is that how would you get futurevision out of a fusion like that? -
So size isn't necessarily everything. If they're as big as a mountain, likely a fusion.
Hard to be sure without knowing Ruby and Sapphire's separate abilities. It may be the whole 'third eye' thing. Like a 'mind's eye' allows you to predict the future.
But I remember when they went to the arcade in a much, much, much earlier episode, Garnet's eyes had black irises, not blue, red, and purple. -

Huh, they probably did change it along the way to make ot make more sense. -
And it might also explain Garnet's excitement when Steven fused with Connie, being a fusion herself.

Pearl looked better in the pilot episode of Steven Universe.
