Nagito Komaeda's parents were killed when a meteorite hit the hijacked plane they were in. He watched his parents die. And he lived on his own in a tiny little apartment. In middle school, someone kidnapped him, but he was released in a garbage bag when he realized that nobody cared about him. And luckily, Nagito found a lottery ticket that won him three million yen. He spent it all though, and then got enrolled in Hope's Peak just because of that ticket. He had no friends and battled dementia, lymphoma and was dragged to insanity after being alone until he was a teenager. And he had no hope and he eventually killed himself because nobody wanted anything to do with him. He killed himself by slicing his stomach open with a spear.
NOPNOPNONPNOPNOP THAT'S NOT FAIR. It's not fair how he's judged!! YOU DON'T KNOW HIS BACKSTORY. I'M MAD AT HINATA. HINATA DIDN'T EVEN GIVE HIM A CHANCE AND DIDN'T EVEN TAKE THE TIME TO GET TO KNOW HIM BEFORE DITCHING HIM AFTER HE FOUND OUT ABOUT HIS SICKNESS.

I want to hug Nagito and kiss him all over! He deserves much better! He can't help that he's insane! It's something wrong with his brain that he can't help! I hate how nobody is patient with him! -

He couldn't die because he tied himself up. When tying up one of his hands, he taped his mouth to muffle his screams and held the rope that held the spear up. Then he dropped it, and splat. (He couldn't have eaten his guts)
