My point is really that we are animals and it isn't just society but animal nature to want to be attractive.

Society (more specially media) creates the idea of perfection, beauty standards create a perception of what "attractive" is -
I like to think of it as they're making it worse.

In animal world animals fight for mates. They don't care how they look. They only care about who is stronger. Okay except from some birds and animals.
