A day after prosecutors claimed two 12-year-old girls stabbed their friend to please a mythological creature, a website that publishes stories about the creepy urban legend says it's not to blame for the crime.
According to the criminal complaint, the Wisconsin girls said they wanted to kill another 12-year-old girl so they could show their dedication to Slenderman, a paranormal figure they said they discovered on creepypasta.wikia.com, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Creepypasta.wikia.com is a website dedicated to user-written horror stories. Most people understand that Slenderman is not real, but the two girls allegedly thought killing their friend would help prove skeptics wrong.
On Tuesday, the moderator who runs creepypasta.com a website similar in content to creepypasta.wikia.com posted a statement about the stabbings.
The nameless author offers condolences to the victim and her family, but also says neither creepypasta.com nor creepypasta.wikia.com can be held responsible for the tragedy.
"Most people don't watch Hannibal and turn into serial killers," the post says.
It continues: "I don't believe that it's the fault of Slenderman or horror writing in general that this happened. I remember reading scary stories and watching slasher movies when I was a child and young teenager and while they certainly gave me nightmares, they did not instill within me a desire to murder my friends" -
I KNOW THATS RIGHT NEAR MY CITY TOO! b------s..I read creepypastas, but I don't kill people! Yeah, you can't blame the pastas or the writers for that, they took that way out of control. Jeez, kids, my age, killing people cuz of a story? I have no words.

Plus, I've read quite a few pastas. By the way your picture looks like Hoody.

I honestly can't express my feelings enough on this topic. I honestly think, as a writer myself, people shouldn't take these stories THAT seriously. I mean, they creep me out sometimes and I think it's POSSIBLE they're real, but I still wouldn't kill anyone. I'd rather actually investigate to see if they're real. -
Anyone who takes things like creepypasta seriously really should not be on the internet.

Or alive..O.e. I write creepypastas that no one reads. Lacy Hyde, Pierce, Sweatervest..
