It's hard to admit you're not as strong as people think you are. I've struggled with depression, I still do sometimes, and what helps me most is finding something that I love to do and doing it. Also whenever I feel really depressed and feel like I'm about to break, I have this one quiet, peaceful spot away from everyone and everything that I go to and I'll just tell myself, 'It's okay. You're not alone, you don't have to be the strong one all the time; it helps to cry a little and crying doesn't make you less strong.' Whenever I'm there, I let it all out. Music helps me too, but it has to be the right music. But no matter what, always remember that you are special and you are loved.

Rissa- What helps me is horseback riding. My instructor has been out of town though, so I haven't been to the barn in a week and a half. I think that's partly why my depressing feelings have been peaking so fast lately. Horseback riding is what calms me. I don't have to be riding-- just working at the barn, cleaning pastures, helping with lessons, feeding the horses-- it helps. And finding a place to be alone-- that's hard in my household. Too many kids and not enough rooms. I'm never alone. I try,.but I share a room and there's not many other places in my house that aren't occupied.

Yes, horses help me a lot. I don't know what it is about them, but they're very calming. I don't remember who, but someone said, "When riding a horse, we leave all our worries, cares, and troubles behind on the ground," and that is certainly true. It's true of aything regarding horses, actually. Your instructor needs to get back in town!
