Alfred walked down the path cheerfully, the last of summer's calm still lingering in the air, yet with the new hope autumn offered. This was the first day of his senior year in high school, and he couldn't wait to make this the best year yet. He was the varsity football quarterback as well and a decent student, despite his reputation of being ditzy. He had a bright future, even if his current life wasn't all too great. His parents were divorced and he lived with his drunken father. He couldn't confide in his dad about some of the troubles he'd been facing, nor could he dream of telling him his one darkest secret; he was gay. He hadn't told anyone, not even his closest friends. That kind of thing has a stigma and he really didn't want people to turn against him, or the other guys to fear that he was going to hit on them or something. He sighed, but kept his happy face, walking onto the campus. 'Hopefully this'll be a good year'. He thought.

Eh, I don't see everyone's fascination with writing about gay men. So I'll just look at this from a writing standpoint.
I like the flow of the entry. It has concise thought and coherent progress to it. I don't really see where this could be expanded though. But if that's not intended, it's a good, well rounded short.
