.helping my little sister with her math homework. I've been trying to explain multiplication to her for the past half and hour. literatlly.... KRISTY. WHAT DO YOU NOT GET.
2 X 5.
5. TWO TIMES. WHAT'S 5 PLUS 5?
Kristy: 10?
GOOD. now, 5 plus 5, plus 5?
Kristy: 15?
YUP. now, that is 3 times 5. five plus 5 plus 5 equals 3 x 5.
kristy: what? I don't get it.

Go get some cereal and use a visible learning tool.
Alright, we have five Cheerios, and 5x2 is five, twice. So get another five and put them together.
