Changing a character from something that people widely enjoyed the way it was, and turning it into childish trash is not creative. It's the most uncreative in my opinion, since it's a way of saying you don't have the capacity to create your own work. Therefore, creative/poetic license isn't a valid reason.

Reason: poetic/creative licence apply as in the fact the a soap it set in a parallel timeline and/or universe so the soapers can do anything with the characters -
