Ryans examination from afar did no good to aid him in comprehending is she was alright or not. He began striding to her location, yet ceased about halfway there. Was it in his best interest to continue on? Would he be able to help the girl at all? Pulling in a deep breath, he pushed on. Once he was about 4 feet away, he cleared his throat.
"Hey!" He called, in attempt to capture her attention. -
I heard a voice from not a very far distance shout, it couldn't possibly be for me but nevertheless I raised my head and scanned the crowd trying to find the owner of the voice, not finding anyone so I glance towards the lake and there a few feet away is a boy, the boy who seemed lost too. Was he calling me? I quickly brushed tears away from my face and looked back at him, "Yeah?" I said, my voice coming out as a soft whisper, I tried again, "Yeah?" I said slightly louder
-
Ryan approached her a bit more, forcing a kind, warm smile upon his lips. He was finally able to stand, since the waters height had slowly decreased as he moved forward.
"Are you alright?" He asked, his voice monotoned. As kind as he seemed, despair twinged in his mind. Even with that, he managed to continued smiling, in anticipation of an answer. -
I was suprised by the boys concern, his smile was warm and kind but yet it didn't reach his eyes, some saddness lingered inside his green eyes. Some saddness he did try hard to hide from me.
"I don't know" my voice came out soft, not like a whisper soft but soft as in soft, gentle maybe. I looked back at him, "Are you alright?" I asked repeating his question to him, I searched his eyes for any sign of his answer -
He couldn't accept an answer of an unsureness. He crawled up next to her, hugging his own knees to his chest.
"Can I have a certain answer before we get to me?" He grinned again, trying desperately to get the warmth and kindness of his beam to reach his whole body, his appearance. Once he did that, there would be no need for the girl to express her worry for him. Then he could completely focus on helping her. Besides, weren't other of higher importance than himself? Didn't his father constantly tell him to be a hero to others, but to not expect anything to come back to him? -
I couldn't help smiling back at him slightly at his attempt but succeded attempt at making me feel better. I shook my head and found my eyes wandering to the ground, "No...I'm not alright" I said answering his question, I dipped my toes into the water of the lake
-
Ryan bit his lip, twiddling his thumbs. "Is there anything I can do to help?" His smile faded a bit as he noticed the sadness in all of her appearance. It amazed him how the appearance of someone at a certain time could stray afar from what actually was going inside that humans head.
-
I shook my head sadly, no losing my sight is something that can't be helped, no one can help me, no one, if I'm lucky maybe the rest of the year will go by slowly so by the time my sight is gone I might not be as scared as usual, I smiled weakly, "If you have secret powers that can make this year be longer than yes, its okay though. Its something that can't be helped"
-
Ryan decided to take this moment to be a bit humourus. He stood up and stood in a superhero position.
"All mighty Father Time, I hearby DEMAND you lengthen this year! Do it!" He chuckled and returned to sitting. He had the slightest clue of how incredibly stupid he seemed in that moment. He smirked playfully, rubbing his hands togeher. -
I felt myself smile, the smile turned to a grin and the grin turned to a laugh.
I said in a fake voice that those actresses in those black and white films had which in my opinion was too dramatic, "Oh thank you! Thank you! Oh how can I ever repay you my glorious hero?" -
"Oh, why you're welcome, fair lady!" He laughed, taking her hand like the superheroes do. "Twas' a pleasure, a true pleasure!" Out of all his idiosyncrasies, his idiotic humour was his personal favorite. He enjyoyed the loght and joy it spread to others.
-
"Oh no, the pleasure was all mine!" I replied, I felt a smile on my face that grew to my eyes and every part of me, "Oh but I find it quite a trajedy that alas, I don't know the name of my saviour"
-
"Oh. My name? You desire knowing my name. Well, that would be Ryan." He winked. "And now that I have released that information, I wish to know the name of the fair lady standing before me."
-
I sighed dramaticly but the smile never leaving my face, "Oh young Ryan, times like these are dangerous and such names can bring such horror, but I shall reveal myself. For my name is Alaska"
-
I'm sorry. But after this one, can we stop for now? My writing spirit is beginning to dull.
"Alaska. Such an amazing name. So natural..." he stared into her eyes "Things could never be dangerous around yours truly. You shan't be afraid of me..."
