in a roleplay your roleplaying one's character based on a movie, book, play etc.
a soap is a made up lot with made up characters -
so kinda like a soap but based off some charictor in a book?

Google dungeons and dragons. That is a roleplaying game. A roleplay is like a RPG but no stats and s---. Or DMs.
