"Well, Jacquelyn, shall we get a hotel for tonight?" He unfolded the paper, skimming it. "The party isn't for two days."

She nodded. "I suppose so... Cameron."

He started for the door, slipping the money, note, and his ID into his pocket once again.

She held on to hers and followed him out, looking around and noticing the odd differences.

The entire city seemed happier. And for the first time in forever, he saw that the streetlights worked. He grinned.

She looked at the town. It was colorful, shops were open, the streets were cleaner, and people seemed happier. A slow smile spread across her face.

Would it hurt to stay longer than the party? He looked over at Kyra.

She noticed him looking at her. "Uh, what?"

"...Nothing. Where do you think we should go?" he asked.

She shrugged. "I don't know. What are we going to do until the party?" Her mind was whirring, thinking about something.

"Whatever we want, I guess? I have a feeling we're going to have to get some stuff ready for it, but otherwise I don't think it matters."

"True..." Her wheels were still turning. "We're going to have to be.... careful... about what we do."

He nodded. "Nothing that could mess up the future, nothing that could reveal who we are."

She smiled and nodded. "Exactly." She thought for a minute. "What do you think will happen when we get back?"

"Who knows?" He shrugged. There was a sudden rush of very bad thoughts. Would his life have changed completely? Would he not know her? Would he not be the same person? Would he even exist?
