It certainly doesn't sound pleasant. :o In a way, yes. Remember that girl who got her arm taken off by one? That was in the back of my mind when going to the beach. x3
But I also think it's certainly rare, and I don't swimming close to the shore would be such a problem. I love the ocean, you just need to take little precautions every now and then.
